Sending fax machine: We strive to keep customers happy and the fax machine can be a source of stress for different reasons. When sending, customers may not like paying a $1 with a credit card. You can always suggest they scan and email (if they have an email to send a PDF scan to).
If patron is very stressed and having difficulties, I send faxes no-charge for them in the back.
The back office fax is the copier--press the fax button--press manual--enter 99-1-and full phone number for long distance. If the phone is local, press 99-XXX-XXXX. If the number is a base number, just dial 451-XXXX (no 99). Note: Wilmington is a 910 area code but is still long distance so you need 99-1-XXX-XXX-XXXX. Make sure the confirmation page says page#'s OK. Give the customer the confirmation page.
Receiving fax: Check in the morning to see how much of the paper roll is left. When a fax is coming through and the paper runs out, the fax will terminate. If the fax terminates, it's best to have the customer recall to have it resent.
