Sometimes you will see a small blue and white box pop up Active Client--this means the customer clicked on okay when it brought up CAC card credentials. You will need to totally close out the IE browster, restart, bring up the military website, and then click on cancel when it brings up the credentials.
You can download military certificates at www.militarycac.com--click on software, then click DOD Certificates--click on Download Install Root. Run and say yes to everything. This will eliminate the pink certificate error in the address bar and will help with accessing different sites. You can put the Install Root program on a thumb drive and run the program on all the computers before opening also. This helps eliminate a majority of website error page requests for help.
The NKO page with NSIPS and BUPERS sometimes takes a special procedure to work. Click on Tools--click on Internet Options--click on Content--Click on Certificates--Click on Intermediate Certificate Authorites. Then click on any certificates that say Common or Interoperability and remove them.
If a patron's certificates don't come up when they insert the CAC card and go to a military website it may mean they have to go to bldg. 60 to have their credentials checked.
Certain websites must have a CAC card: NSIPS and CIF.
If patron can't logon onto NSIPS, go to Internet Options, Content, Certificates.
Then remove any certificates not the patrons, then click on Intermediate Certification Authorities, remove any certificates which have Interoperability or Common in the names. As a last step, click on the Clear SSL State button.
LRC has computers which will access these sites but I try to get the website to work using the above tools first.
